IOWA CITY – A “Night of Champions” will take place Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. in the social hall of St. Patrick Church. Featured speaker Chris Norton and presenters Marv Cook, Randy Norton and Mark Gannon will address “How God’s Plan Drives Your Life.”
Cook is a member of the Iowa High School Football Hall of Fame, Iowa Hawkeye All-American Tight End, NFL All-Pro Tight End and current head football coach at Iowa City Regina, with three straight state championships and winners of 42 straight games.
Randy Norton is a 1978 Regina grad, two-time state basketball champion at Regina, member of Iowa High School Basketball Hall of Fame, member of 1980 Iowa Hawkeye Final Four team, former state champion basketball coach at Assumption High School in Davenport and currently associate head women’s basketball coach at the University of Missouri.
Gannon is a 1979 Regina grad, three-time state basketball champion at Regina, member of Iowa High School Basketball Hall of Fame, member of 1980 Iowa Hawkeye Final Four team and an entrepreneur.
Chris Norton fractured his C3-C4 vertebrae on Oct. 16, 2010, while making a tackle on a kickoff while playing for Luther College in Decorah. After being told he had a 3 percent chance of regaining movement below the neck, Chris has showed faith and determination. He recently stood for over 10 minutes unassisted. He started a foundation in fall 2012 to help others dealing with a spinal cord injury.
