CONFERENCES
Davenport – “The Child Next Door,” a human trafficking conference, will take place Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at St. Ambrose University. The event is for law enforcement, social service providers, medical professionals, legal personnel, government officials, faith-based organizations and others. Learn how to detect the signs, provide solutions and stop the crime. Cost is $25/$35 CEU. LECTURES
Davenport – Frank Wessling, former editor of The Catholic Messenger, will speak Nov. 7 on Vatican II in St. Anthony Parish Center. The talk, to be held from 6:30-8 p.m., is titled: “U Are the Church! How did that happen? Reflection on Vatican II.”
Iowa City – Jerzy Rubach, Ph.D., will speak on “The Catholic Church in Poland: A Personal Reflection” Nov. 8 from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Newman Catholic Student Center. He will address his experience of growing up Catholic in Poland and witnessing Pope John Paul II’s historic visit to Poland that led to the liberation of his country.
Rock Island, Ill. – “From Life to Life Everlasting: Faithful Choices, Conversations and Planning for the End of Life” will take place Nov. 1 and 8 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Farrell Hall, St. Pius X Catholic Church. Father Michael Schaab and nurse Mary Milas will present.
LITURGY/PRAYER
Davenport – St. Paul the Apostle Parish has made the following changes to its 8:30 a.m. weekday Mass schedule and Saturday confession time. Tuesday 8:30 a.m. Mass has been changed to 5:30 p.m. and will follow an hour of adoration from 4-5:15 p.m. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available during adoration on Tuesdays. Instead of Saturday afternoon reconciliation, the sacrament will be available from 9:15-10:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
Davenport – At Eagles’ Wings, a Soaking With A Purpose prayer meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 9. A healing Mass will be celebrated there Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. Also, Bishop Martin Amos will bless the ministry during an open house celebration of Eagles’ Wings 20th birthday Nov. 18 between 3 and 5 p.m.
RETREATS

Wheatland — Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat will offer the following event: “Ranger Rosary Workshop” from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 7 with Father Bill Kneemiller. SOCIALS
Camanche – Church of the Visitation will hold its annual holiday bazaar Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The day will include a quilt raffle, bake sale, silent auction, holiday items and local arts and crafts.  The public is welcome and there is no admission charge.
Davenport — Our Lady of Victory Parish’s Christmas Carousel Bazaar will take place at John F. Kennedy Catholic School on Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bazaar will include crafts, holiday items, a bake shop and raffle. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
Davenport —  St. Paul the Apostle Parish’s Altar and Rosary Bazaar will take place Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Nov. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bazaar will include crafts, baked goods, raffle baskets and more. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
Davenport —  Assumption High School’s senior class will hold a spaghetti supper Nov. 4 from 4-7 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens.
Davenport — Quad Cities Interfaith’s fundraising breakfast will be Nov. 13 from 7:30-8:30 a.m. in the Rogalski Center at St. Ambrose University. There is no charge to attend, but guests will be asked to donate to QCI. To RSVP, call (563) 322-4910.

Davenport – St. Alphonsus Church will hold a craft show Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Handmade quilts, stained glass, candles, jewelry and more will be for sale. Davenport — St. Mary Parish’s 40th annual bazaar and authentic Mexican breakfast will take place Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Nov. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be trash and treasures, a bake sale, Christmas items and raffles. Luncheon on Saturday is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $8. Proceeds will pay for the parish’s insurance.
Keota — Holy Trinity Parish’s harvest dinner will take place Nov. 4 at St. Mary’s Parish Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade candy will be for sale, and a raffle will be in the afternoon. Tickets are available at the door.
Nichols – An annual auction and luncheon will take place at St. Mary’s parish hall Nov. 4.  Silent auction is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Regular auction follows.
Ottumwa – St. Patrick Parish’s annual fall dinner is Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $8 for people 10 and older, $4 for children ages 4-9, and free for children 3 and younger. A quilt raffle will take place at 1 p.m.
Tipton — St. Mary’s Christmas bazaar will take place at the church hall Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be crafts, a cookie walk and food stand.
Wellman – A screening of the new documentary “Child 31,” a film about the work of international charity Mary’s Meals, will be at Dave and Pam Ockenfels’ home, 3351 V Ave., Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. An RSVP is appreciated: call Allison Ockenfels at (319) 646-6583.
West Branch – St. Bernadette Parish is hosting a soup supper and bake sale Nov. 11 from 3-7 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-10, and free for children younger than 3. The event includes a themed basket, craft and bake sale area.
WORKSHOPS
Iowa City – Music ministers are invited to a workshop Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Patrick Church. For the first hour, the workshop will focus on selecting music for the liturgy. For the final two hours, accompanists will work in one group and cantors/singers in another. Faculty will be Patti McTaggart of St. Mary Parish, Iowa City, and David Pitt of Loras College, Dubuque.
