Spouse: Peggy Dvorak
Children: Marc, Matt (Jen)
Parish: Immaculate Conception, Colfax
Date and place of ordination:  June 8, 2002, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport
Occupation: Parish Life Coordinator
Why did you become a deacon?
I began ministering in my parish 40 years ago as a catechist and just grew in my ministries from there: director of Faith Formation, director of Youth Ministry, director of RCIA. Eventually, the diaconate seemed the next best step in my growth and development as a minister. The graces I have received through ordination have been amazing.
What ministries are you involved in?
As a parish life coordinator, I am involved in all the ministries on the parish level, pastoral care, faith formation, RCIA, marriage prep, etc.
Outside of parish: I help with the prison ministry at the Iowa Correctional Facility in Newton as well as serving on several community organizations.
What are your challenges?
To be an effective evangelist and prophet.  It is difficult to see people drift away from the Church.  I want to grow as an effective agent in calling them back home.
Favorite Scripture passage:
Isaiah 55 or Ezekiel 36:24-28.  God calls us home with gentleness and compassion.
