LITURGY/PRAYER
Davenport —  A healing Mass will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 19, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Confessions start at 6 p.m., praise music at 6:30 p.m., and Mass at 7:15 p.m. All are welcome.
Davenport – A Soak­ing With A Purpose prayer meeting will take place Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at Eagles’ Wings.  Also, a healing Mass will be celebrated there Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
Fort Madison – A rosary crusade will take place Oct. 13 at noon outside of McAleer Hall, 1111 Ave. E. Father David Wilkening will lead prayer for repentance and conversion in the U.S.
Muscatine – A public square rosary rally will take place Oct. 13 at 11:45 a.m. on the steps of St. Mathias Church, 215 W. Eighth St. There will be song, the Angelus, rosary and Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
MEETINGS
Bettendorf – St. John Vianney Parish will offer an “Under­standing Grief Edu­cational Program” in October and November. RETREATS
Davenport – St. Alphonsus Catholic Church will have a day of retreat with Father Bob Miller on Oct. 15 beginning at 9 a.m. and ending with Mass at 3 p.m. Entitled “Power of the Trinity in Faith in Our Life,” the retreat will be held in the church and St. Clement’s Hall. Fee with meal included is $12. Bring a Bible. Send the reservation and money to Pat Sigler, 11914 Coon-hunters Road, Blue Grass, IA 52726 by Oct. 13.
Wheatland — Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat will offer the following events. On Oct. 16 is “Harvest Come to the Quiet,” 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The day is yours to shape after a brief introduction to abundance. Fee: $20. On Oct. 19-21 is a weekend retreat for women, Friday 7 p.m. to Sunday 10 a.m. Fee: $200. To register: (563) 336-8414 or olpretreat@gmail.com.
SOCIALS
Brooklyn – St. Patrick Parish will hold a bazaar and supper on Oct. 14. Meal will be served from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children 12 and younger, and $1 for preschoolers age 4 and younger. Carryouts will be available. Raffle drawing will take place at 6 p.m. There also will be a baked goods booth, country store, farmers’ market and grab bags.
Burlington —  Catholic Adult Fellowship Evenings (CAFÉ) will take place Wednesdays from 6:45 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria of Notre Dame High School. All adult Catholics in Des Moines County are welcome. Child care is provided. The CAFÉ is not open Oct. 17 and 31.
Camanche – Church of the Visitation, 1028 Middle Road, will hold a fundraising breakfast Oct. 7 from 8-11:30 a.m. Cost is $7 per adult, $3 per child age 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. Mass times are 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. For more information, call (563) 259-1188.
Davenport – Humility of Mary Housing, Inc. will hold a Fresh Start Benefit Sale Oct. 12 from 5-8 p.m. and Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3805 Mississippi Ave. There will be housewares, bedding, toys, jewelry, gift items, furniture, books, games and clothing. Donations for this sale can be dropped off Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Fort Madison —  “Sparking the Spirit” will take place at Holy Family Parish’s Mc­Aleer Hall on Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m.  Jacquelyne Witter will speak on the new evangelization and the Year of Faith. A light meal will be served at 5:45 p.m., with the program running from 6:30–8:30 p.m.  There is no charge for the event, but make reservations for the meal and evening at mtpleasantstaldre@diodav.org.
Iowa City — The Diocese of Davenport’s first young adult conference will take place at St. Patrick Church in Iowa City Oct. 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $15. To register, visit www.davenportyouth.org/daveportya.org.
Iowa City – St. Wenceslaus Parish will hold its fall turkey dinner Oct. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-10 and free for children 4 and younger. Takeouts will be available. Jill VanDorpe will offer musical entertainment, and kolaches will be for sale.
Iowa City – The Knights of Columbus at St. Wenceslaus Parish will host a recognition dinner Oct. 13 at the parish hall to congratulate the first recipient of a medical consultant grant and to learn more about Natural Family Planning. Speakers include Dr. Stephen Pallone and his wife, Melinda. Dr. Monica Minjeur of Cedar Rapids, the first grant recipient, also will speak. Iowa City – Father Rudolph Juarez will bless pets on Oct. 6 at 9:30 a.m. on the north end of the parking lot at St. Patrick Church. Treats will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
Lone Tree – St. Mary Parish will hold its fall auction Sept. 30 at Lone Tree American Legion.  Silent auction is at 11:30 a.m.; regular auction is at 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m.
Mount Pleasant — St. Alphonsus Parish will celebrate its 150th anniversary Nov. 4. Plans include a Mass of thanksgiving followed by a light supper in Manning Hall. St. Paul – People are welcome to the 61st annual God’s Acre Sale at St. James Church Oct. 6-7.  The charity auction begins Saturday with  food at 5 p.m. and followed by the auction from 6–10:30 p.m. The auction resumes on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. A turkey dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Baked goods and homemade candies will be available in the country kitchen.  Raffles for cash prizes will take place throughout the day starting at 3 p.m.; tickets are $5 each or five for $20.
Wellman – St. Joseph Parish will hold a pork loin and turkey dinner on Sunday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-10 and free for children 3 and younger. Carryouts are available. There will be a country store selling homemade noodles, kolaches and baked goods.  Auction begins at 1:30 p.m.
Wilton – St. Mary Parish will hold its fall dinner Sunday, Oct., 7, from noon to 3 p.m. at the parish hall, 308 Spruce St. Ham and turkey will be served. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12 and free for children 4 and younger. Carryouts will be available. There also will be a country store with crafts, grab bags and homemade goods.
