Pope Benedict XVI has announced The Year of Faith, which began Oct. 11 and ends Nov. 24, 2013. This is a holy time that will provide Catholics the opportunity to celebrate, deepen and share the spiritual richness of their Catholic faith. As a typical busy teen, you may wonder how you could possibly fit another activity into your schedule. However, there are several opportunities this coming year that will challenge you to deepen your relationship with Christ.
We all understand the dynamics of the relationships we have with parents, siblings, friends and coworkers. But what is your personal relationship with Christ like? Perhaps if he had a Facebook page or a Twitter account sharing problems as well as joys would be just as easy as clicking the “send” button. So how DO we send a friend request to God?
As young Catholics, there are a multitude of resources at our fingertips. One thing you may consider is “liking” our Facebook page, Diocese of Davenport Youth Ministry, and follow our account on Twitter, @Dymc2012Enrique. Here you will find a lot of information regarding upcoming events, activities and celebrations of our Catholic faith directed to teens just like you. Another great way to kick off The Year of Faith is to attend the upcoming High School Youth Rally on Oct. 21, where there will be speakers, music and breakout sessions and of course fun!
God lives through us, around us and in us each and every day. We just have to accept HIS friend request. Start The Year of Faith out right; deepen your faith, learn about your faith and put your faith into action.
