LITURGY/PRAYER
Davenport –   Soak­ing With A Purpose prayer meetings will take place Fridays, Sept. 28 and Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at Eagles’ Wings.  Also, a healing Mass will be celebrated there Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
Fort Madison – A rosary crusade will take place Oct. 13 at noon outside of McAleer Hall, 1111 Ave. E. Father David Wilkening will lead prayer for repentance and conversion in the U.S.
Grand Mound – A Padre Pio prayer group will meet Sunday, Sept. 30, for adoration from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Mass at 5 p.m. A meal will follow Mass. Bring fresh fruit.
Moline, Ill. – A Quad Cities Interfaith prayer vigil for jobs and jobs equity will take place Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1826 16th St. To RSVP or get more information, call (563) 322-4910.
Muscatine – A public square rosary rally will take place Oct. 13 at 11:45 a.m. on the steps of St. Mathias Church, 215 W. Eighth St. There will be song, the Angelus, rosary and Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Bettendorf – St. John Vianney Parish will offer an “Under­standing Grief Edu­cational Program” in October and November. Participants will meet for seven Tuesdays in the Vianney Room from 1-2:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 2. An RSVP is not necessary, but helpful. RETREATS
Davenport – St. Alphonsus Catholic Church will have a day of retreat with Father Bob Miller on Oct. 15 beginning at 9 a.m. and ending with Mass at 3 p.m. Entitled “Power of the Trinity in Faith in Our Life,” the retreat will be held in the church and St. Clement’s Hall. Rock Island, Ill. – On Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Benet House Retreat Center will host a day of prayer, reflection and challenge through the teaching of St. Bernard of Clairvaux and his “Vision of Mystical Love.”  Presenter is author and professor Hal Green, Ph.D., a member of Contemplative Outreach. Brooklyn – St. Patrick Parish will hold a bazaar and supper on Oct. 14. Meal will be served from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children 12 and younger, and $1 for preschoolers age 4 and younger. Carryouts will be available. Raffle drawing will take place at 6 p.m. There also will be a baked goods booth, country store, farmers’ market and grab bags.
Davenport – The Blessed John XXIII Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order will host a social evening of Italian treats, information and prayer on the eve of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. The event will take place Oct. 3 at St. Vincent Center, 780 W. Davenport – Singer Kathy Troccoli will headline a free “Praise for Life” concert for the Women’s Choice Center on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.at the Adler Theatre. To enter the concert, get a ticket at one of two pick-up events at the Adler. For more information, visit www.wcc10th.com.
Houghton – The St. John Harvest Festival will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Knights of Columbus Hall.  A roast beef dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Carry-outs will be available.  A craft and bake sale will be held in the Houghton Fire Station, and the auction will start at 11:30 a.m. in the shelter house behind the KC Hall.  The large raffle drawing will be held at 3 p.m.  Raffle tickets will be available to purchase the day of the festival.

Iowa City – St. Wenceslaus Parish will hold its fall turkey dinner Oct. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-10 and free for children 4 and younger. Takeouts will be available. Jill VanDorpe will offer musical entertainment, and kolaches will be for sale.
Iowa City – The Knights of Columbus at St. Wenceslaus Parish will host a recognition dinner Oct. 13 at the parish hall to congratulate the first recipient of a medical consultant grant and to learn more about Natural Family Planning. Speakers include Dr. Stephen Pallone and his wife, Melinda. Dr. Monica Minjeur of Cedar Rapids, the first grant recipient, also will speak. Pella – St. Mary Parish will hold its fall festival Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with Mass at 10 a.m. at 726 218th Place. There will be carnival games, a cake walk, face painting, a country store, music, wine and beer tasting, prizes, food, and a “punkin chunkin” contest.  Rain or shine.  Tickets will be sold at the door — prices vary.
Rock Island, Ill. – Professor Chuck Chalberg will impersonate GK Chesterton, a Catholic apologist, at St. Mary’s Schroeder Hall on Oct. 7 from 2-4 p.m. Chalberg portrays the English author on “GK Chesterton: The Apostle of Common Sense” on EWTN. St. Paul – People are welcome to the 61st annual God’s Acre Sale at St. James Church Oct. 6-7.  The charity auction begins Saturday night with the Holy Trinity Catholic junior class serving food starting at 5 p.m. and followed by the auction from 6–10:30 p.m. The auction resumes on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. A turkey dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Baked goods and homemade candies will be available in the country kitchen.  Raffles for cash prizes will take place throughout the day starting at 3 p.m.; tickets are $5 each or five for $20.
Wellman – St. Joseph Parish will hold a pork loin and turkey dinner on Sunday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-10 and free for children 3 and younger. Carryouts are available. There will be a country store selling homemade noodles, kolaches and baked goods.  Auction begins at 1:30 p.m.
Wilton – St. Mary Parish will hold its fall dinner Sunday, Oct., 7, from noon to 3 p.m. at the parish hall, 308 Spruce St. Ham and turkey will be served. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12 and free for children 4 and younger. Carryouts will be available. There also will be a country store with crafts, grab bags and homemade goods.
