Bettendorf – An Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force presentation, “The Exploitation of Minors Online,” will take place at St. John Vianney Church Sept. 10 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Parents, staff and volunteers from parishes and schools, and high-school aged youths are welcome to attend.  Michael Ferjak, a criminal investigator, will discuss the current predator threat, social networking, sexting and cyber-harassment.
Coralville — Kathy Kelly, three-time nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, will speak about Afghanistan at the Coralville Public Library on Sept. 12 (time to be announced). Kelly is currently working with Afghan Peace Volunteers in Kabul. LITURGY/PRAYER
Davenport – A healing Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. at Eagles’ Wings. Also, a Soaking With A Purpose prayer meeting will take place Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
Wheatland —  A centering prayer retreat will take place Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat. The day will include centering prayer, Lectio Divina, lunch, a DVD with discussion, and time for solitude. Massage will be available for $15 for 15 minutes. Cost for the retreat is $25. MEETINGS
Davenport —  Grieving adults are invited to attend Grief Support meetings at St. Anthony’s Parish Library on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The first of nine free, weekly sessions was Aug. 7. Participants may join on any day. For more information, call (563) 322-3303.

Davenport – Assumption High School class of 1962 will hold its 50th class reunion at The Outing Club on Saturday, Sept. 22. Activities will kick off at the football game between Assumption and Clinton High School Sept. 20. Davenport – All boys and girls in grades two through eight are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2012 Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at Davenport Soccer Fields. Students will compete in their re­spective age divisions. Competition forms will be available at the field on the day of the event. Davenport —  Humility of Mary Housing, Inc. is celebrating 22 years of service to the Quad Cities with a New Orleans-style Jazz Brunch at Crow Valley Golf Club Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sarah Marie Young, a Chicago vocalist, will be the featured entertainer. Davenport — New St. Ambrose University music faculty Marian Lee will offer a free piano concert, “Religion and Passion,” at the university’s Galvin Fine Arts Center on Friday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m.
DeWitt – St. Joseph Parish, 417 Sixth Ave., will hold its fall festival Sunday, Sept. 16, from 3–7 p.m. A beef and pork dinner will cost $9 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Carryouts will be available: call (563) 320-3659.   The event includes bingo, a raffle, bake sale, pop walk, farmers market, children’s games and silent auction.
East Pleasant Plain – Ss. Joseph & Cabrini Parish will hold its annual bazaar Sept. 16. Mass will be at 9:30 a.m., and a buffet dinner with chicken breast and pork loin will follow from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $3.50 for children 3 to 12 years old and free for children younger than 3. A large auction will begin at 1 p.m. There will be a country store with crafts and baked goods, kids’ games, caramel apple booth, raffle and carriage rides.
Mechanicsville – St. Mary Parish’s annual ice cream social will take place Sept. 16 from 4-6:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-12, and free for children 3 and younger. A quilt raffle and country store will also take place. All are welcome.
Mount Pleasant – St. Alphonsus Parish will hold its Autumn Festival Sunday, Sept. 16. A roast beef dinner will be served in Manning Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $8 for people ages 11 and older, $5 for children ages 6-10 and free for children 5 and younger. A country store and silent auction will last all day. Bring a cookbook for the cookbook swap. Altar & Rosary quilters have offered a “grandmother’s flower garden” queen-sized quilt for a raffle. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Live auction begins at 12:15 p.m. Items include a diamond necklace or Browning Silver Hunter Shotgun, Kindle Fire, coffee table with inlaid bricks from the old church and more.
Oxford Junction – Sacred Heart Parish will hold its fall festival Sept. 16 beginning with a polka Mass at 10:30 a.m. at the church, followed by a chicken and kolache dinner at the Oxford Junction Legionnaire Ballroom from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Riverside – St. Mary Parish invites people to its annual Labor Day celebration Sept. 3. Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A smoked Iowa chop dinner will cost $10 in advance or $11 at the door; a fried chicken dinner will cost $9 in advance or $10 at the door. A hot dog kids’ meal will cost $5 in advance or $6 at the door. Children younger than 5 get a free kids’ meal. To order tickets in advance, call (319) 648-4149. Carryouts will be available. A raffle will offer a grand prize of $1,500. Festivities include crafts, a farmers’ market, games, bingo, deer shoot, kids’ games, obstacle course and a 1 p.m. tractor pull (sign up at 12:30 p.m.) An auction will offer quilts, stained glass, pews for Christmas Eve Mass and more.
Victor – St. Bridget Parish will hold a chicken and ham family-style supper Sunday, Sept. 16, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in the air-conditioned, handicapped-accessible church basement. Donations are $10 for adults, $5 for children 10 and younger, and free for children 5 and younger. Carryouts will be available, and there will be delivery in Victor. The event will include a country store with baked items and a quilt.
