KEOTA-Dolores A. Sieren, age 77, of Keota, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Maplewood Manor in Keota.

Dolores was born October 30, 1934, in rural East Pleasant Plain, Iowa, to Edward and Margaret (Peck) Ledger. While growing up she attended country school and helped raise her siblings. On October 10, 1959, she married Dennis Sieren at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain. Following marriage the couple lived and farmed east of Keota until moving into town in 1995. A self-taught homemaker, Dolores was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society, sang in the church choir, was a dedicated leader of the 76 Chickadees 4 – H club for many years and volunteered at the Washington County Fair. Dolores enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, baking, sewing and making all kinds of crafts. She took great pride in her beautiful flower gardens and decorating cakes for her childrens’ and grandchildrens’ birthdays. She was also a loving and proud grandmother and supported her grandchildren in their various activities.

Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years: Dennis; three sons: Tim (Ethel) Sieren, Scott (Renee) Sieren and Jayme (Angie) Sieren, all of Keota; daughter: Amy (Josh) Green of Cascade; 10 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters: Clarabell Vittetoe of Washington and Geraldine Hubler of Durant and two brothers: James Ledger of Washington and Virgil Ledger of Pleasant Plain. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant granddaughter: Stephanie Ann Sieren; four brothers: Lester, Donald, Elmer and Ernie Ledger and sister: Maxine Hahn.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries – St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be an Altar and Rosary Society rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a wake service at 7:00 p.m.
