Use private sector to help people leave poverty

To the Editor:
The “Rags-to-Riches” article was uplifting. A priest works with a successful business man (a rich man) to help poor people develop a profitable business while earning a living wage. As Fernandez-Ruiz said, “It always validates the belief that there is hope in the world, and you can really do something to make other people rise above poverty.”
This is a much better solution to ending poverty.  Not, “tax the rich, give to the poor,” but develop programs and businesses in the private sector to help people rise above poverty.
