She was inspired by the story of “Lost Boy” Joseph Akol Makeer to help establish a boarding facility for orphan girls in Sudan. As a boy, Joseph walked across Africa to escape genocide in South Sudan. Dawson will provide an update on the organization’s efforts to help rebuild and provide food, housing, clothing, and access to education and health care for children victimized by violence in their homeland.
