Clinton – The Sisters of St. Francis will welcome Deb Dawson of the African Soul, American Heart Foundation on Sunday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at The Canticle, 841 13th Ave. N. She was inspired by the story of “Lost Boy” Joseph Akol Makeer to help establish a boarding facility for orphan girls in Sudan. As a boy, Joseph walked across Africa to escape genocide in South Sudan. Dawson will provide an update on the organization’s efforts to help rebuild and provide food, housing, clothing, and access to education and health care for children victimized by violence in their homeland.
Davenport — People are invited to the “Life in the Spirit” seminar at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. from July 5 to Aug. 23. An explanation and sign-up session with Msgr. Marvin Mottet is Thursday, June 21, from 7–8 p.m. in the church’s gathering space. This seminar will be presented by members of the Blessed Trinity Prayer Group consisting of parishioners from Bettendorf and Davenport parishes. Fee is $10. Babysitting will be provided. Davenport — Sacred Heart Cathedral is celebrating Saturday night Mass at 5 p.m. from May 26 to Sept. 1. The sacrament of reconciliation will be offered an hour before, at 4 p.m. During the fall and winter months, Saturday night Mass will be held at 4 p.m.
