LECTURES

Clinton – The Sisters of St. Francis will welcome Deb Dawson of the African Soul, American Heart Foundation on Sunday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at The Canticle, 841 13th Ave. N. She was inspired by the story of “Lost Boy” Joseph Akol Makeer to help establish a boarding facility for orphan girls in Sudan.  Joseph visited Clinton in 2009 and shared his experiences as a boy who walked across Africa to escape genocide in South Sudan. Now Dawson will provide an update on the organization’s efforts to help rebuild and provide food, housing, clothing, and access to education and health care for children victimized by violence in their homeland.
