EDUCATIONAL
Davenport — St. Anthony Parish offers a “Just” Soup Lenten program on Thursdays in March. Participants  meet at 6 p.m. in the parish center for soup, followed by presentations on an issue of justice. March 22 features Ellen Reilly, homeless liaison for Davenport Community School District, and Rusty Boruff, director of the 180 Zone, a faith-based nonprofit organization. The final session is March 29 with Kent Ferris, director of social action for the Diocese of Davenport, and Karina Garnica and Gricelda Garnica, diocesan immigration counselors.
Davenport – St. Ambrose University theology faculty members Micah Kiel and the Rev. Matthew Coomber will present “A Challenging Peace: Wrestling with Violence and Non-violence in the Bible” March 22 at 7 p.m. in the Rogalski Center.
Davenport – A presentation on domestic minor sex trafficking will take place March 29 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Genesis Medical Center, west campus, Pavilion 2. Maggie Tinsman, MSW, former Iowa state senator and drafter of Iowa’s human trafficking law, will be the presenter. The purpose is to train healthcare workers to recognize and respond to potential human trafficking. Anyone interested may attend. To register, call (563) 421-5513.
Iowa City — Catholic Studies Scholars at the Newman Catholic Student Center will present seminars on March 25 and April 1. On both Sundays, Zoraida Oyola-Rebaza will present from noon to 12:45 p.m., and Jessica Ducharme will speak from 1-1:45 p.m. Zoraida’s first presentation will be about the life and work of St. Francis Solano. Her second presentation will be a cello performance of songs he used in evangelization. Ducharme’s first presentation is a history of music in the Church. Her second presentation will explore the lives of Catholic female composers and musicians.

Clinton — Sisters of St. Francis invite the public to join them for vespers at The Canticle at 6 p.m. March 18, 25 and April 1.
Davenport —  A healing Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 15, at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 7:15 p.m. Confessions begin at 6 p.m. and praise music at 6:30 p.m.
Iowa City – On March 25 at 6 p.m., members of St. Patrick Parish will portray “We Were There,”  based on Pope John Paul II’s scriptural Way of the Cross, at the church. Each station focuses on a scriptural person who delivers a monologue, and concludes with a prayer and a verse of “Were You There.”
Iowa City — ISPY (Iowa City St. Patrick Youth Group) will portray “Silhouette Stations of the Cross” at St. Patrick Church on March 28 at 8 p.m. People of all ages are invited to attend.

Davenport —  A Soaking With a Purpose prayer meeting will take place March 23 at 7 p.m. at Eagles’ Wings.
RECREATIONAL
Davenport — Run for Renewal, a fundraising event for Project Renewal, will be held Saturday, April 21, at Sr. Concetta Park at the intersection of 6th and Warren streets in Davenport. The ½ Mile Kid’s Treat House Trot starts at 8:30 a.m. and is free for children ages 9 and younger. The 5k Run/Walk starts at 9 a.m. Cost is $20. RETREATS
Coralville – A Lenten mini-retreat titled “The Power of Faith in Our Lives” will be held Saturday, March 31, from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Registration and refreshments begin at 8:30 a.m. Speakers will share how faith impacted them as they navigated through struggles and successes. To register, call (319) 338-9290.  Suggested donation is $10. An optional catered lunch will follow the retreat for $9.
Riverside – The Iowa City Catholic community will host an overnight retreat March 23-25 for men at St. Mary Parish. For more information, call Bill Doucette at (319) 541-9814.
Wheatland – Two events are slated at Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat.  On March 23-25 is “SoulCollage for Women” from Friday at  7 p.m. to Sunday at 11 a.m. Fee is $200.  March 28 is “Simple Bookbinding” from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Fee is $30. Clinton – St. Edwards Council of the Knights of Columbus will hold fish fries at St. Boniface Hall from 4:30-7 p.m. on Fridays through March 30. Shrimp will be served for $9; otherwise the fish fry is $8 for adults, $4 for children 3-12 and free for children younger than 3. For carry-outs, call (563) 242-0902.
Davenport — A trivia night to benefit Quad Cities Interfaith will take place at St. Paul the Apostle Church March 24 at 7 p.m. Cost is $10 per person. To reserve a table, call Beth at (563) 322-4910.
Davenport — A Mad Hatter Tea Party will take place Saturday, March 17, at 3 p.m. at Eagles’ Wings. Ladies may bring a tea cup, tea to share and a “mad hat.”
Fort Madison – Catholic Singles will meet for a potluck at McAleer Hall, 11th Ave. E, at 6:30 p.m. March 21. Games and a sing-along will follow dinner. The group also will meet March 31 at the Moose Club, 2529 Mt. Pleasant St., Burlington, at 6:30 p.m. for dinner, followed by dancing. Grinnell – The Knights of Columbus hold fish fries on Fridays during Lent from 5-7 pm in St. Mary’s Religious Education Center. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 5-14 and free for children 4 and younger.
Hills — A soup supper will take place at St. Joseph Church Sunday, March 18, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger.
Hills – St. Joseph Parish will host Leo Vitangcol, a singer, guitarist and worship leader, March 17-18. His conference on “Music, Healing and Gifts of the Holy Spirit” will take place March 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. Freewill donations will be taken. The weekend of March 17-18, Vitangcol will also be at all Masses at St. Joseph Church and St. Mary churches in Lone Tree and Nichols. After each Mass, he will give a short presentation on “Music and Healing.”
Iowa City — Knights of Columbus Council 842 will hold dinners of catfish, shrimp or salmon Fridays during Lent from 5-7 pm at the KC Family Center.  Kids’ meals available.
Iowa City – St. Wenceslaus Parish’s spring bake sale will take place March 31 from 8-11 a.m. at 630 E. Davenport St. There will be kolaches, cinnamon rolls, other baked goods, and complimentary coffee. For more information, call Marilyn Jensen at (319) 351 5914.

Mount Pleasant – People are invited to a Trivia Night at 7 p.m. on April 14 at St. Alphonsus Manning Hall. Reserve a table of eight or an individual spot by April 4. Cost per person is $10. Sandwiches and beverages will be available for a freewill donation. Proceeds will support the 150th anniversary celebration of St. Alphonsus in November.  The evening will include a silent auction, mulligans and door prizes. West Liberty — St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus will hold fish fries at St. Joseph’s Parish Life Center on March 16 and 30 from 5-7:30 p.m. Cost is $9.50 for adults and $4.50 for people younger than 13.
