Fr. McBrien is not inspiring

To the Editor:
I want to answer John Bruesch’s letter in The Catholic Messenger of Feb. 16. I believe Father Richard McBrien has had a terrible influence on a lot of Catholics.
John, do you really think, because as you say, 100 percent of Catholics are sinners, that makes it right to read dissenting material? What’s needed is good, inspiring reading.
What I’m reading right now is “Enthronement of the Sacred Heart” by Rev. Francis Larkin, SS.C. It is excellent, as are all kinds of biographies of saints. Try one and see how good it makes you feel.
