SIGOURNEY-Gordon Gillam, age 83, of Sigourney, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.

Gordon was born January 22, 1929, in Lancaster, Iowa, to John Wesley and Frona (Neuhart) Gillam and graduated from Sigourney High School. On November 23, 1950, he married Mary Rose Crossen in Sigourney. Gordon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until 1953, where he was stationed in Alaska. He lived and farmed in the Sigourney community where he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and served as a Jackson Township Trustee. He loved farming, hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, fox trapping, coon dogs and terriers.

Survivors include his wife: Mary Rose of Sigourney; three children: John (Mary) Gillam and Bruce Gillam, both of Ollie and Deb Gillam of Sigourney; five grandchildren: Jeremy (Joni) Gillam of Creston, Matthew (Kris) Gillam of Deforest, Wisconsin, Chad (Jenny) Gillam of Kalona, Grant (Angela) Gillam of Richland and Melissa (Jon) Breitenbucher of Des Moines and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Lois Klein, Freda Wallerich and Donna Pfaff.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, where there will be a wake service at 5:00 p.m.
