Members of Lourdes Catholic School Home and School Committee, Bettendorf, and their children served a meal Sept. 14 at the Salvation Army in Davenport.

Fourteen members of Lourdes Catholic School Home and School Committee in Bettendorf provided and served a meal Sept. 14 at the Salvation Army in Davenport.

The committee members and some of their children served the meal through the Churches United meal program.

For years Lourdes parishioners have volunteered their time, talent and treasure in providing for those in need. As Home and School Committee members began thinking about the new school year, they decided to look outside the walls of the parish and school to reach out to the larger community. There was a desire to serve as a team and grow as a team.

The committee’s members prepared the food and then served 81 meals to those in need. On the menu was fried chicken, corn, bread, fruit, salad, cookies and milk.
