Iowa City — Centering Prayer groups meet from 7-8 p.m. Mondays at the Mercy Hospital chapel, and from 9-11:30 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month at a member’s hom

Melrose — The Knights of Columbus of Albia sponsor a 24-hour adoration the first Friday of the month at St. Patrick Church in Melrose. Moline, Ill. – The Secular Discalced Carmelite Community of St. Joseph and the Prophet Elijah invites people to join in the study of prayer in the tradition of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. Davenport — Michael John Poirier will lead an evening of stories, songs and adoration Wednesday, July 20, at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 1923 N. Montrose — A fundraiser for Andy Farnsworth, who will serve with NET Ministries, will take place from noon to 6 p.m. July 24 at the Ivor Fowler Center. Bratwursts, hot dogs, potato salad, coleslaw, beverages and desserts will be served for a freewill offering. There will be a 50/50 raffle, a half-hog raffle, a silent auction and live music.

Springbrook — Ss. Peter & Paul Parish’s chicken barbecue with a salad and dessert bar will take place July 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Kilburg Hall. A half-chicken serving will cost $8, and a quarter-chicken serving will cost $7. An auction will take place at 1 p.m. The day will include games, a country store, music and prizes. Drawing for prizes will be at 6:30 p.m.
