WHEATLAND — Two early August programs are scheduled at Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat:
• “Knit One, Pray Too,” a day of knitting, fellowship and prayer, is slated for Thursday, Aug. 4, 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Fee is $15, which includes lunch.
Participants should bring size 11 or 13 knitting needles, three six-ounce skeins of yarn (or a project in progress), and join others as they create a prayer shawl, a scarf or a gift for someone in need of comfort.
Presenters will be Ann Green, Anne Johnson and Karen Brooke. Green is a lay minister at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and a private piano instructor. Johnson is a fiber artist who has been knitting, spinning and sewing since childhood. Brooke is a lay minister at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and development director for the Sisters of Humility.

• “Becoming a Servant Leader” is slated for Tuesday, August 9, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Fee is $15, which includes lunch.
This retreat will involve participants in a reflective, prayerful and interactive process of exploring what servant leadership is, why it works and how a person can become a servant leader. Each participant will receive a free, signed copy of presenter Dan Ebener’s book on servant leadership.
Ebener teaches in the Master’s of Organizational Leadership program at St. Ambrose University in Davenport and is director of stewardship and parish planning for the Diocese of Davenport.
