‘Walking for Spirit’ retreat in Wheatland

WHEATLAND — The retreat “Walking for Spirit” will take place Tuesday, June 7, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat. Fee is $15, which includes lunch.

Participants will discover that walking and bird watching can lead to inner peace, mental focus and spiritual awareness. After a short warm-up, attendees will explore the Prairie trails together. A nature pond, timber, prairie grass fields and the Wapsipincon River are all within a short hike at The Prairie.

Wear long pants and hiking shoes.

Presenters are Lisa Martin and Sister Joan Sheil, CHM. Martin has been a nature hiker since days hunting mushrooms with her dad and backpacking in the Grand Canyon. She is the communications director for the Sisters of Humility.

Sr. Sheil, archivist of the Sisters of Humility and retired library director at the former Marycrest College in Davenport, is an avid bird watcher and seasoned Rocky Mountain hiker.
