June M. Day, 76, a resident of Davenport passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at her home following a extended illness. 

Funeral services and a Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.  The family will greet friends Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport where you are invited to join them at 5:00 p.m. for a prayer service. 

Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Annual Diocesan Appeal.

June Marie Kerr was born December 9, 1934 in Rock Island, Illinois the daughter of William Kerr and Mary E. Moran, and was the adopted daughter of Raymond and June I. Ruefer. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy class of 1952.  June was united in marriage to Roger E. Day, Sr. on June 21, 1952 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport, Iowa.  Roger preceded her in death July 15, 2003.

She retired after 17 years of service in the insurance verification department with Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.  June was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  She was a wonderful mother raising her seven children; she enjoyed attending their many activities as well as those of her grandchildren. 

Those left to honor her memory include her son Shane (Marcia) Day, Taylor Ridge, IL; her daughters Julie Ryan, Moline, IL, Mary (Steve) Watkins, Moline, IL, Tina (Bill) Wagschal, Davenport, Katy Sones, Davenport, IA; 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchild;  her brother Bill Kerr, Aledo, IL.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sons Michael P. Day and Roger Day, Jr. and a brother Joseph Kerr.  May they rest in peace.
