Families, kindergarteners work together

The kindergarten family project for March was a “leprechaun trap.”

In kindergarten each month, families work together with their children on a special family project that the students share with the class.

This year, they made reading treasure boxes, a “Classroom Families” photo album that traveled to each home, pumpkins, disguised turkeys, Christmas family tradition banners, snow people, Valentine containers, rainbows and leprechaun traps.

Students’ final project will be a timeline of their first five years. These projects help develop creativity and skills in planning and cooperation. Sharing the projects with their class enhances  communication skills such as listening, speaking and questioning. Family projects are a great way to enrich school/home connections.
