Clinton — “Blue Gold: World Water Wars” is the next film in the Prince of Peace Pax Christi four-part series, From REAL to REEL: a Film Series With a Message. It will be shown on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at The Canticle, home of the Sisters of St. Francis, 841 13th Ave. N., beginning at 6:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public. The Sisters say “Blue Gold” exposes the corporate giants, private investors and corrupt governments who are vying for control of water. There will be discussion and refreshments following the film. Des Moines — The annual Prayer for Life event, co-sponsored by the Iowa Catholic Conference, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 8. The day kicks off at 9:30 a.m. at the Catholic Pastoral Center in Des Moines. The main speaker is Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic manager who resigned after assisting in the performance of an abortion and viewing the baby on ultrasound. Following a training session and lunch, participants will be invited to go to the Capitol to meet their legislator and then participate in a rally in the rotunda at 3 p.m. There will be a suggested donation for lunch. Iowa City — There will be a Second and Third Degree Knights of Columbus exemplification at St. Patrick Church, 4330 St. Patrick Drive, in honor of Bishop Martin Amos Feb. 27. Candidates should arrive at 1 p.m., and the exemplification will start at 1:30 p.m. First Degree Knights of Columbus should attend. There will be a First Degree exemplification for all new candidates at St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Hall, 4776 American Legion Road, Iowa City, Feb. 27. The First Degree candidates should be there by 10:30 a.m.; the exemplification will start at 11 a.m. Please call for reservations. Fourth Degree exemplification will take place during the Iowa Knights of Columbus convention in Coralville at the Marriott April 8 at 1 p.m. with Bishop Amos.
Washington — The Davenport Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will hold an open board meeting Thursday, Feb. 10, at Pizza Ranch. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.; the meeting starts at 10 a.m. All women in the diocese are invited.

Camanche — A fundraising breakfast will take place at Church of the Visitation Feb. 6 from 8 a.m. to noon in the parish hall. Cost is $6 per adult, $3 per child age 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. First and second-grade religious education students eat free with a paid adult breakfast. Menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, coffee, milk and juice.
Iowa City — A Mardi Gras pancake and sausage breakfast will be held Sunday, Feb. 6, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in St. Patrick’s Social Hall, 4330 St. Patrick Drive. Many toppings, King’s cake and drinks will be served. Cost is $5 per person or $20 per family; children 5 and younger are admitted free. Proceeds will defray registration costs for the 11 youths attending the National Catholic Youth Conference. Sunday Mass times are 7:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon (Spanish). All are welcome.
Iowa City — The Regina Boy Scout Troop 218 annual chili dinner will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 6 at St. Wenceslaus Church, 630 Davenport St. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger. Riverside — St. Mary Parish’s faith formation pancake breakfast will take place Sunday, Feb. 13 from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and drinks will be served. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children and free for children younger than 5. Crafts and baked goods will be for sale.
Victor — St. Bridget Parish will hold its annual Valentine spaghetti supper Saturday, Feb. 12 from 5-7 p.m. in the church hall. Menu includes spaghetti with sauce, lettuce salad and dressing, bread stick, dessert and beverage. A freewill donation will help cover expenses for students attending the National Catholic Youth Conference.
