Davenport — A healing Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 10th and Iowa streets, Friday, Jan. 21. Confessions start at 6 p.m., praise music at 6:30 p.m., and Mass at 7:15 p.m. All are welcome.

Washington — Msgr. Marvin Mottet will celebrate a healing Mass at St. James Church Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. Confessions begin at 6:15 p.m.

Clinton — Christian Experience Weekends (CEWs) will take place at Prince of Peace School in February and March. The women’s weekend is Feb. 18-20, and the men’s weekend is March 4-6. The retreat begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday and ends at 5 p.m. Sunday. The weekend includes talks, discussion, special services and Masses, and time for reflection, food and fun. Religious and lay people conduct the weekend. Fee is $35, which includes meals. People unable to pay are not turned away. Davenport — Our Lady of Victory Parish, sponsored by the Diocese of Davenport, invites people to “save the date” for the 2011 Marriage Encounter Weekend. It will be held Friday, Feb. 18, through Sunday, Feb. 20, at the church. It’s a gift married couples can give themselves to revitalize, strengthen and enrich their marriage. The cost is $95 for couples (financial assistance is available) and is open to couples of all faiths. DeWitt — Christian Experience Weekends (CEWs) will take place at St. Joseph School this winter. The women’s weekend is slated for Jan. 28-30, and the men’s weekend is Feb. 11-13. The CEW begins on Friday night at 8 p.m. and ends at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. It includes talks, discussions and activities conducted by religious and lay people. Cost is $35. Davenport – At St. Ambrose University, Chicago-area pianist and teacher Mark Valenti will present a varied program on early 20th century music on Sunday, Jan. 23, at 3 p.m. This free, public event is part of the St. Ambrose University “Year of the Piano” celebration. The recital will take place at the Galvin Fine Arts Center, located on Gaines Street, between Locust and Lombard streets. For more information, contact Terri Flynn at (563) 333-6001.

Davenport — An art exhibit, “Social Commentaries,” will take place at St. Ambrose University Jan. 18 to Feb. 25. Eight national artists explore how the Book Arts medium can be used to provide commentary on contemporary social issues such as race riots, natural disasters, political systems, teens and the world of animé, and the plight of the veteran. The exhibit is part of the university’s yearlong series, “The Ubiquity of Work.” The Galvin Fine Arts Center Catich Gallery is located on Gaines Street between Locust and Lombard streets. It is open Tuesday–Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Iowa City – “Prayer for Life: A Men’s Conference for Spiritual Awakening” will take place March 26 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, 4330 St. Patrick Drive. The event will feature speaker Father Francis Hoffman, Mass, adoration, the sacrament of reconciliation, and a light breakfast and lunch. The Knights of Columbus of St. Patrick and St. Wenceslaus parishes in Iowa City are organizing the conference.  Preregistration by Jan. 26 is $25; afterward, the cost is $35. Grand Mound — Ss. Philip & James Parish will hold an all-you-can-eat chili or chicken noodle soup supper Jan. 16 from 4-7 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults and $2.50 for children. There also will be a bake sale. Call (563) 847-7572 by Jan. 15 to preorder deliveries.

LeClaire — The Knights of Columbus of Our Lady of the River Parish will serve a spaghetti supper in the church Saturday, Jan. 15, following the 5 p.m. Mass. Spaghetti and meatballs, breadsticks, tossed salad, desserts and beverages will be served. Donations will be accepted.
