A Memorial Mass for John F. Dreher, 78, a resident of Davenport will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport.
John’s family will greet friends prior to mass at church from 9:30 until 10:30a.m. Burial will be at a later date at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Honoring John’s wish his remains were donated to the University of Iowa’s Deeded Body Program. John died Monday, January 3, 2011 at Senior Star in Davenport. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
John Fredrick Dreher was born September 17, 1932 in Davenport, a son of John P. and Anna (Theis) Dreher. He proudly served our country in the U. S. Air Force. John was a graduate of St. Ambrose College class of 1958. He had been married to Joyce K. Small. She preceded him in death. John had retired from the former J.I. Case where he served many years as a cost accountant.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
Survivors include his children, a son, Jeffry E. Dreher, Davenport; daughters, Christina (Paul) Lum, Las Vegas, NV, Connie L. Smith, Colorado Springs, CO; stepdaughters, Karen (Greg) Peacock, Sherrard, IL and Sharon Schmahl, Shagrin Falls, OH; three brothers, Jim (Deborah) Dreher, Santa Clara, UT, Dick (Ruthann) Dreher, Davenport, and Tom Dreher, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Michael Dreher.
