RETREATS
Davenport — Our Lady of Victory Parish, sponsored by the Diocese of Davenport, invites people to “save the date” for the 2011 Marriage Encounter Weekend. It will be held Friday, Feb. 18, through Sunday, Feb. 20, at the church. It’s a gift married couples can give themselves to revitalize, strengthen and enrich their marriage. The cost is $95 for couples (financial assistance is available) and is open to couples of all faiths. Davenport — The Sacred Heart Cathedral Choir Ensemble and soprano Kim McDonald will offer a free concert at the cathedral Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow. The cathedral is located at 422 E. 10th St.
Davenport — Christmas decorations, holiday gift items and holiday clothing for the family are available at Cinderella Cellar, 230 W. 35th St. The store is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Proceeds benefit the Kahl Home for the Aged and Infirm. Cinderella Cellar is operated by volunteers from the Catholic Service Board.

Fairfield – Lynn Cooper, a Catholic contemporary singer and songwriter, will present a concert Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Church, 3100 W. Madison Ave. Freewill offerings will be accepted. CDs will be for sale, and refreshments will be served.
Fairfield — St. Mary Parish is hosting a Nativity tea Dec. 12 from 2:30-4 p.m. in the church hall. The event is a free, Advent, family activity. For parishioners wishing to display a nativity scene, the hall will be open Dec. 10 from 5-7 p.m. and Dec. 11 from noon to 6 p.m. Treats can be dropped off in the kitchen during those times or on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Iowa City — St. Wenceslaus Church will hold its annual holiday bazaar and bake sale at the church, 630 E. Davenport St., Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. to noon and after 4 p.m. Mass and on Dec. 12 from 8 a.m. to noon. Freshly made kolaches, cinnamon rolls and other baked goods will be for sale. There also will be a country store, crafts and attic treasures. Scrip will be available to purchase, and complimentary coffee will be available.
