Riverside parish to hold Labor Day festival

RIVERSIDE — St. Mary Parish will hold its Labor Day celebration Sept. 6 at 51 Saint Mary’s St. Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Cost is $9.50 in advance or  $10.50 at the door for a smoked Iowa chop dinner, and $8.50 in advance or $9.50 at the door for a chicken breast dinner. Children younger than 5 get a free hot dog meal. Meal includes mashed potatoes, gravy, homemade noodles, green beans, corn, coleslaw, applesauce, rolls, dessert and drinks.

The Millennium Raffle includes a grand prize of $1,500, second prize of $1,000, one $250 prize, three $500 prizes, and 10 $100 prizes. There will be a farmers’ market, and crafts will be sold. Bingo and horseshoes begin at 1 p.m.; sign-up starts at 12:30 p.m. A kids’ tractor pull begins at 1 p.m., and sign-up takes place from noon to 1 p.m.

An auction starts at 2:30 p.m. Auction items include a gourmet meal prepared by Pastor Father Rich Adam, reserved pews for Christmas Eve Mass, signature bricks and refurbished kneelers from the convent, handcrafted furniture and much more.
