Davenport — A healing Mass will be celebrated Aug. 20 at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 10th and Iowa streets. Confessions begin at 6 p.m., praise music at 6:40 p.m. and Mass at 7:15 p.m. All are welcome.

Rock Island, Ill. — Join Quad Cities Interfaith in a prayerful action, Wednesday, Aug. 11, from noon to 1 p.m. in front of the Federal Building, 211 19th St. Join local clergy and lay leaders as part of a national action of prayer and a call for an end to immigration policies that are tearing families apart. Clinton — In commemoration of the 65th year since the devastation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan by atomic bombs, the Clinton Franciscans will screen the film “Nuclear Tipping Point” and continue the discussion of “Getting to Zero” — the need to achieve security without nuclear weapons. Davenport — The St. Alphonsus Parish festival will take place Saturday, Aug. 28, from 5-9 p.m. at Birchwood and Boies Ave. A pork loin dinner will be served for $6 from 5-7:30 p.m. There will also be a concession stand, children’s and adults’ games, inflatables, a huge raffle, country store and entertainment. Everyone is invited.

Goose Lake — Assumption & St. Patrick Parish in Charlotte is hosting a beef and pork dinner with all the trimmings, including a beverage and dessert, on Sunday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The event will be held at the Millennium Ballroom in Goose Lake.  Carryouts are available.  Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children 3 and younger.  There will also be a gift basket silent auction, children’s games, bingo, a country store and local entertainment.

Iowa City — There will be a benefit breakfast and silent auction for Mary Jo Loria on Sunday, Aug. 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Patrick Church. Loria was diagnosed with ALS three-and-a-half years ago. Money raised will be used to purchase a new wheelchair and a wheelchair-accessible van.

Knoxville — St. Anthony Parish’s annual spaghetti dinner will take place Aug. 12 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the church. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children younger than 10.
