Social Action meetings for the six deaneries in the Davenport Diocese have been scheduled for late August. “Although the work of social action continues 12 months a year, we realize that for many parish committees, efforts begin again with the start of a traditional academic calendar,” said Kent Ferris, diocesan director of Social Action and Catholic Charities. “Those of us in the Social Action Office enjoy the opportunity to meet with local social action folks, to learn more about the efforts being undertaken while also providing information about issues and upcoming events.”

• Grinnell Deanery: St. Mary’s Church, Grinnell, Monday, Aug. 23, 6 p.m. potluck dinner, 6:30 p.m. meeting
• Ottumwa Deanery: St. Patrick’s Church, Ottumwa, Tuesday, Aug. 24
• Keokuk Deanery: McAleer Hall, Ss. Mary and Joseph Church, Fort Madison, Wednesday, Aug. 25
• Davenport Deanery: Our Lady of Victory, Davenport, Thursday, Aug. 26
