LECTURES

Davenport — John McGreevy, dean of the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame, will give a public lecture on the campus of St. Ambrose University. “Arts and Letters for the 21st Century,” sponsored by the Notre Dame Club of the Quad Cities and St. Ambrose, will take place Wednesday, June 9, at 7 p.m. in the Rogalski Center.

LITURGY/PRAYER

Davenport — A healing Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral Friday, June 18. Confessions begin at 6 p.m., praise music at 6:45 p.m. and Mass at 7:15 p.m. All are welcome.

Davenport — The Sisters of Humility invite the general public to pray with them at 11:40 a.m. Wednesdays during a special Mass for peace. It will be celebrated in the Magnificat Chapel at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave.

Fort Madison — Holy Family Parish will hold a Corpus Christi procession after 4 p.m. Mass at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church June 5. Benediction will follow, and a fish fry will take place in McAleer Hall.

Long Grove — Sister JonFe DeTorres, 36, will profess final vows as a Discalced Carmelite Sister at St. Ann Church in Long Grove during a Mass June 26 at 11 a.m. Currently a member of the Carmelite community in Eldridge, she moved there in 2006 from the Philippines. She was born in that country and became a postulant in a Carmelite community there at age 25. All are welcome to witness her profession of vows.

Muscatine — A Corpus Christi Mass and procession will take place at St. Mathias Church June 6 at 11:30 a.m. Mass will be bilingual, and lunch and eucharistic adoration will follow the procession.

Sugar Creek — A Corpus Christi Mass and procession will take place at St. Joseph Church, 3218 110th St., Preston, June 5 at 4:30 p.m. The Altar & Rosary Society will serve a meal after the procession in the parish hall.

MEETINGS

Moline, Ill. — The Blessed John XXIII fraternity of the Secular Franciscans is hosting the presentation “Ethics, Theology & the Theology of the Corporation”  Saturday, June 26, at Sacred Heart Church. Presenter is Terrence McCarthy, SFO, author of “A Theology of the Corporation:  A Franciscan Approach.”  Registration starts at 8 a.m.; Mass is at 8:30 a.m., and the session starts at 9:30 a.m. For more information, please contact Kent Ferris at (563) 264-0120.

Bettendorf — A celebration of life will be held June 25 from 7-10 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Center in Bettendorf as a fundraising effort for pro-life ministries in the Quad-Cities. The “It’s Black and White” event features a silent auction, raffle, Les Fleur Shoppe, antiques, heirlooms and collectibles. Admission is $10. DeWitt —  Knights of Columbus will sponsor a spaghetti supper and bake sale from 5-7:30 p.m. June 5 at the KC Hall, 613 10th St. Proceeds benefit Venture Crew, a co-ed branch of the Boy Scouts of America. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Muscatine —  The parishioners of Ss. Mary & Mathias Parish are honoring their pastor, Father Jason Crossen, on the 10-year anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. They are celebrating with a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception at Gannon Hall, St. Mathias Church, on Saturday, June 26, from 6-8 p.m. with a program at 6:30 p.m. Fr. Crossen will be presented with special gifts from the parish, including a DVD highlighting activities from the past seven years of his time with the Muscatine Catholic Community.

Welton — St. Anne Parish will celebrate its 100th anniversary June 27. Bishop Martin Amos will celebrate Mass at 10 a.m., and a parish dinner and basket raffle will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Buzzy’s in Welton.
