Sr. Audrey Cleary marks jubilee

Sister Audrey Cleary, OSB, is celebrating her jubilee this month. She entered her religious community in February 1959 and received the habit in June 1959. She professed first vows in 1960 and final vows in 1965.

She currently serves at St. Mary Monastery in Rock Island, Ill., and volunteers in the area.

Born in Bloomington, Ill., she earned a B.A. in English and B.S. in science at Marycrest College in Davenport. She received an M.A. in theology, Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., and an M.A. in spirituality, St. Regis College, Toronto University, Canada. She was certified as a pastoral counselor at Illinois Pastoral Institute, Bloomington, Ill. She was certified as a Centering Prayer Director, St. Benedict Trappist Monastery, Snowmass, Colo. She did graduate work in French and Spanish at the University of Illinois, Champaign, Ill.

Sr. Cleary has served at elementary and secondary schools in Illinois and as associate director of the Office of Religious Education for the Peoria, Ill., Diocese. She also has served as a pastoral associate in Illinois and as director of House of Prayer, Sacred Heart, Rock Island, as well as at the Prayer and Spirituality Center, St. Ambrose University, Davenport.
