BETTENDORF — A celebration of life will be held June 25 from 7-10 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Center in Bettendorf as a fundraising effort for pro-life ministries in the Quad-Cities. The goal of the event is to bring together all Catholics in the Davenport Deanery in a joint effort to show support for life. “We have extended a personal invitation to the pastors,” said organizer Charlene Merritt. Also invited are people of various denominations who support life.
The “It’s Black and White” event features a silent auction, Les Fleur Shoppe, antiques, heirlooms and collectibles. Raffle prizes will be given away, including a wooden deck, a week’s vacation, china, framed art work, porcelain dolls, bicycles, gift baskets and more. A “Spudlicious” potato bar will be available for people to create their own feast. Admission is $10 per person. Participants are asked to dress in black/white informal wear.
Volunteers from each parish will help coordinate this effort to celebrate the culture of life. If you know of individuals, couples or groups who would enjoy being a part of this event, please contact Charlene Merritt at merritt4u@aol.com or call her at (563) 210-2143.
