Iowa City — Michael Schorsch will present a Catholic Scholar Seminar at the Newman Catholic Student Center Jan. 31 at noon. The presentation will be “Living the Beautiful in Art and Life”: a lecture and discussion with Newman Center Catholic Studies Scholar and translator/editor Mike Schorsch. 


Bettendorf  — Lourdes Catholic School will host an open house Sunday, Jan. 31, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and an Early Childhood program open house on Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 5-7:30 p.m.


Bettendorf — St. John Vianney Parish is offering monthly caregiver support meetings on the second Wednesday of the month from 1-2:30 p.m. Janet Rubelmann, a parishioner of St. John Vianney, is the support meeting facilitator. Davenport — “Tender Mercies,” a false-self film festival, will take place in the Holy Family Church meeting room at Marquette and Pleasant streets Jan. 31. People will gather at 1 p.m. for Centering Prayer. The film and discussion will follow and end by 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Wilton — St. Mary Parish is hosting GriefShare sessions on Sundays from 6:30-8 p.m. at the church. The series, sponsored by the Durant-Wilton Ministerial Association, is a weekly seminar/support group for people grieving the death of someone close. People may participate in any sessions they choose. DeWitt — A Christian Experience Weekend for men will take place  Feb. 5-7 at St. Joseph School. The contact for the men’s CEW is Leo McGarry at (563) 650-3677. The deadline to register is Feb. 5.


Davenport — A Theology on Tap event for young adults will take place at Phil & Larry’s Saloon, 4811 N. Brady St., at 7 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 11. Devin and Kim Schadt will speak on “Expressing Sexual Freedom within Marriage.”

Harper — A fish fry will take place in the Knights of Columbus Hall Jan. 29 from 5-8 p.m.

Muscatine — A soup supper will take place in the Bishop Hayes Catholic School gym Feb. 2 from 5-7 p.m. Menu includes chili, potato soup, hot dogs, cookies, chips and beverages. Tours of the new faith formation center will be offered at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Ottumwa — St. Mary of the Visitation Parish will host its annual spaghetti dinner Sunday, Jan. 31 in the church hall at Court and E. Fourth streets. Menu includes salad, French bread, spaghetti and meat sauce, cheesecake and beverages. Serving times will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30-6 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-10 and free for children 3 and younger. Carryouts will be available.
