Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Joan V. Grantham, 75, a resident of Santa Maria and formerly of Davenport were Jan. 19, 2010 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 916 E. Rusholme Street, Davenport.

Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.

Joan died on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at her residence in Santa Maria, California following an extended illness.

Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joan Virginia Kerkhoven was born Sept. 7, 1934 in Davenport a daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Kerkhoven.

She graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Davenport in 1970 and worked as a registered nurse until she retired in 2002.

Joan loved gardening. She had also been involved in the San Pedro Collie Club raising several champion collies. She had also served as a judge for the club.

She was active in her parish in Santa Maria until her health would not permit. She loved California and her many friends there and enjoyed playing bridge and dining out. “She will be missed.”

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Food for the Poor, 6401 Lyons Road, P.O. Box 979004, Coconut Creek, FL. 33097-904, which was a charity of her choice. They serve in Haiti.

Survivors include a son, Steven Trauffer, Titusville, Fla.; and daughters, Paula Conwell, Dillon, Colorado; and Sharon Trauffer, Glenwood Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; as well as brothers, Robert Kerkhoven, Homewood, Ill.; and Thomas Kerkhoven, Davenport; sisters, Geraldine Manley, Davenport; Margaret Reidy-Smith, Moline, Ill.; and Elizabeth Hayes, Laurel, Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Helen Kellner and Mary Jacobs.
