Research facts on Creed

Facebooktwittermail

Sister Paschal Hocum doesn’t need me to defend her, but if George Mullally would have looked it up in Denzinger-Schonmetzer, he would have found the Nicene Creed of 325 proclaims “pisteuomen” i.e. “credimus,”  WE BELIEVE.

There are other ancient creeds in the plural and some in the singular (especially, I think, where they were used for personal profession before baptism).

I think it is good to get the facts straight whether we go “we” or “I.”  If our research is sloppy, who knows…someone may start the rumor that the church was founded in the 16th century with the council of Trent.
