Prince of Peace College Preparatory 2009 graduate Andrew Schnier became an Air Force Cadet in late August when the University of Iowa resumed classes. Schnier accepted an Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) scholarship last spring. This scholarship will allow Schnier to attend the University of Iowa, work through the AFROTC program, and commission into the United States Air Force as a second lieutenant.

Schnier was one of more than 14,000 high school students last year to compete for approximately 1,800 scholarships. He is the son of David and Laura Schnier and is the second of 10 children.

Andy is familiar with military service. His father retired after 22 years with the Naval Reserves.  His brother Dan, a 2008 graduate of Prince of Peace College Preparatory, was awarded a U.S. Naval ROTC Scholarship and attends Iowa State University.

While at Prince of Peace College Preparatory Andrew participated in basketball, cross-country, golf and quiz bowl. He served on the student council and was inducted into the National Honor Society. He plans to major in computer science at the University of Iowa.
