DAVENPORT — The Knights of Columbus will hold a Tootsie Roll drive Aug. 13-16 for people with mental handicaps. Knights, their families and volunteers will wear yellow aprons and give away Tootsie Rolls while seeking donations. Council No. 532’s goal is $48,000.
Ninety percent of proceeds go to local organizations that serve people with mental handicaps. Ten percent of donations are allocated by the State Knights of Columbus, most of which goes toward the Iowa Special Olympics. No administrative costs are involved.
Last year, donations went toward Scott County Special Olympics, Scott County ARC, the Handicapped Development Center, Unified Sports Program, Up with Families, Hand in Hand, and other organizations.
