Two School Sisters of St. Francis who served in the Davenport Diocese will celebrate milestone anniversaries as women religious June 20.
Sister Lucille Smith (Angelique) celebrates 75 years as a School Sister of St. Francis. She was born in Octavia, Neb. She has a bachelor’s degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee and a master’s degree from St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind. In the Diocese of Davenport, Sr. Smith served as teacher and organist at Ss. Peter & Paul School and Parish in Clear Creek from 1942-45. She taught at St. James School in St. Paul from 1968-69 and at Marquette Primary School in Houghton from 1969-70. Sr. Smith lives in Campbellsport, Wis.
Sister Sharon Kubes (Berthold) celebrates 50 years as a School Sister of St. Francis. She was born in Chicago. She has a bachelor’s degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee and a master’s degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson. In the Diocese of Davenport, Sr. Kubes taught at Assumption High School in Davenport from 1964-65 and 1976-80. She resides in West Allis, Wis.
