The Diocese of Davenport has established a foundation to encourage, accept and manage gifts to foster stewardship and advance the mission of the diocese. This foundation is a separate non-profit corporation in the State of Iowa.

The foundation is governed by a board of directors, which held its first meeting May 18. In addition to Bishop Martin Amos and Vicar General Msgr. John Hyland, its members include eight lay people with varying expertise in business, investing, finance and law. All deaneries are represented. Char Maaske, the diocese’s chief financial officer, and I serve as staff to the board.

Donations to our Capital Campaign will be put in this newly established foundation. Funds within the foundation include seminary education, deacon formation, health care for priests unable to minister, diocesan operations, Catholic schools, Office of Social Action and Catholic Charities and Office of Faith Formation.

The foundation encourages planned gifts such as charitable trusts, wills, bequests, insurance policies, real estate, etc. The title is Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Davenport.
