DAVENPORT — “The Irish Servant Girl in America,” this year’s St. Ambrose University Lawrence J. McCaffrey Lecture of Irish-American Studies, will feature professor and Irish Studies expert Maureen Murphy. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will take place Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in the Rogalski Center, located at the corner of Ripley and Lombard Streets, one block west of Harrison Street.

In her lecture Murphy will examine the role of 19th century Irish-American girls who immigrated to America and became servants, providing badly needed income for their families back home in Ireland.
