DAVENPORT — Charles Elbert has been named the new principal of Assumption High School effective July 1.

Elbert received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and his master’s from Drake University. He began his education career at Wahlert High School in Dubuque where he served as a science teacher and coach for several years.

He is completing his 10th year as principal of St. Edmond Catholic Middle/High School in Fort Dodge, said Andy Craig, the current principal of Assumption. Craig will become president of Assumption effective July 1.

“I feel confident that Mr. Elbert will be a great ‘fit’ for Assumption. He has a reputation for being student and faculty centered, and I look forward to him becoming a part of the Assumption team,” Craig said.
