To celebrate the heritage and history of Mercy Day, Sean Williams, president and CEO of Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, and Joan Noe, vice president of mission and ambulatory services, participated in anointing and blessing of the hands of employees for service.
As part of the blessing they shared this prayer: “I anoint your hands for service. Receive the strength offered by our creator, God. Receive the vision to see with the eyes of your heart and the courage to persevere in difficult times. May all whose lives you touch come to know God’s love, and may that same love be a consolation to you.”
Annually, Mercy Day is recognized on Sept. 24 as the day that the first House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland, was established in 1827 by Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy.
