Patricia Eileen Greubel, 73, of Knoxville, Iowa, formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a lengthy illness. Pat was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.

Born Oct. 1, 1951, Pat was the eldest daughter of Robert and Mary (Ruth) Marek of rural Washington, Iowa. A 1969 graduate from Washington High School, she attended Mercy Nursing School in Iowa City and Burlington Nursing School, and later earned her BSN at Drake University.

Pat was joined in marriage to Frank Greubel in Washington on Sept. 7, 1973. To this union were born three children: Joshua, Joseph and Jessica. Pat and Frank both worked as nurses at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville, and later Pat became a Nurse Manager.

Those left to cherish Pat’s memory are son Joshua (Amanda), daughter Jessica, Greubel grandchildren: Alexis (fiance Kaleb), Michael (fiance Lexi), Benen, Ashton, Keely, Nya, and Autumn, her mother Mary, sisters Fran McVeigh and Sherry Marek-Chary (Sudharshan), brothers Gerard Marek (YoungLim) and Wayne Marek, sister-in-law Mary Marek, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph; her father Robert; her son Joseph; her daughter-in-law Ashley; and her brother James.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the Pat Greubel 4H/FFA Scholarship.
