CLINTON — Prince of Peace Parish’s priests will soon have a new home.

The parish bought a 1,600-square-foot ranch house April 24 within walking distance of Prince of Peace’s new church, which was dedicated March 14. The house will replace the aging, three-story Victorian building at St. Mary Church that’s currently home for Father Tony Herold, pastor, and Father Thom Hennen, parochial vicar.

The six-year-old, bluish-gray house at 1044 16th Ave. NW needs some interior painting, and an apartment for Fr. Hennen will be created on the lower level, he said. A room now set up to resemble a theater will be converted to another use.

No moving date is set. “We’re not in a hurry to get out of the present rectory,” said Fr. Hennen. “But I think it’d be nice to be in before summer,” as window air-conditioners in the current rectory aren’t especially efficient at cooling, he said.

Prince of Peace’s current rectory is for sale. Anyone serious about buying it should call Dave Schnier, parish business manager, at (563) 242-3311.
