Care for creation
To the Editor:
I would like to express my gratitude for Father Bill Kneemiller’s letter (July 3 edition) in the Reader’s opinion of The Catholic Messenger. I pray that his information on styrene as “reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen” (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Toxicology Program statement), will continue to challenge my parish and other organizations and individuals to choose from the many safe and environmentally friendly choices available. Some have responded to pleas to care for creation but for others it has fallen on deaf ears. The general use of Styrofoam-like products in church and organizational dinners and fish fries is astronomical. Perhaps the concern for human health can turn the tide. Let us pray.
