Kudos for commemorative magazine
To the Editor:
I just spent a couple delightful hours reviewing all the well-written articles in this colorful (commemorative magazine) about our new bishop, Dennis Walsh. Great job.
It was interesting how you covered all those early years and then brought folks from his three parishes into play, with interesting comments and pictures, including those of his dear mother.
Then, the blue section with “Connections from the Bronx to Delphos” gave readers a further appreciation for many of the good people, including Sister Mary Spohrer who stated, “I think he appreciates the gifts of the people who are working with him.” Good!
Sister Susan Faist’s comments: “Bishop Walsh is friendly, with a quick sense of humor, a wide knowledge of various fields, doctrine, finance, law and development.” Great!
The double page of thoughts by (Toledo) Bishop Daniel Thomas wrapped up with this terse advice for our new bishop: “Don’t make commitments back-to-back every night of the week.” “Carefully guard your prayer time with the Lord.” “Your worship at the altar is more important than your time at the desk.” “Have no doubt that this is the Lord’s will. You were made for this.”
As a 90-year-old member of the Davenport Diocese, I have witnessed a half-dozen of our bishops come and go, but never have I seen such a great colorful publication as this one. My personal “thanks” to everyone involved.”
