To the Editor:
I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Notre Dame Vision last month with five other students from the Davenport Diocese. I was a little apprehensive about attending because I had no idea what to expect nor did I know anyone else who would be there. However, when I arrived on the Notre Dame campus in Indiana I was immediately made to feel very welcome. The week was filled with inspiring talks, breakout sessions, and activities with my assigned small group. When I met my small-group members and mentors I felt an immediate connection and was able to share my thoughts and feelings about a variety of topics.
While at Notre Dame I received the devastating news that one of my close friends had died. Other people I had known for only two days comforted me, prayed with me and simply sat with me. My first reaction was to see how fast I could return home, but the support from the adult leaders, mentors and students made me realize that the Holy Spirit was urging me to stay. I was where I needed to be; God placed me with others who could talk with me and help me through this difficult time. I understand that my experience was unique and personal, but the love and support I received from the other Notre Dame participants added to an unforgettable God-filled week.
I cannot recommend Notre Dame Vision enough to others. The talks and discussions will impact you and are easily relatable, making you always put Christ in the center of your life. You will make lifelong bonds with people from all over the country. Four week-long sessions are offered to high school students in June and July. Talk to your youth minister about how to sign up next summer and enjoy the beautiful Notre Dame campus.
