Our Lady of the Prairie retreats set for August


WHEATLAND – Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat invites people to the following events:
• Aug. 10: “Visio Divina: New Way to Pray,” 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Explore the visual arts, how reflecting on an image can bring spiritual insight, and “Divine Seeing.” Fee: $20.
• Aug. 14: “Late-summer in the Quiet,” 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Experience summer at The Prairie and spend a day in quiet and reflection. Fee: $20.
• Aug. 15: “Knit One, Pray Too!” 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring size 11 or 13 knitting needles, 3-6 oz. skeins of yarn (or a project in progress), and create a prayer shawl, scarf or gift for someone in need of comfort. Fee: $20.
• Aug. 17-19: “Weaving Prayers and Baskets,” 7 p.m. Friday to noon Sunday. Learn simple basket weaving technique in the context of prayer and meditation. Materials provided. No experience necessary. Fee: $200.
• Aug. 19: “The Spirit of the Prairie,” 3–5 p.m. Afternoon includes buffet of foods made from locally grown ingredients, plus locally produced wines and beer, music by Nick Vasquez, tours of the facilities and grounds, and time to relax. Fee: $35.
• Aug. 20 and 21 (select one): “Journeying With Jesus Through Human Desires & Holy Longings,” 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. How do people find “Elijah’s jug” of sustenance amid life’s struggles? Partici­pants will use Scripture to seek out God’s anchoring passion in human passions. Fee: $30.
All retreats include homemade meals.
