Nov. 4
Davenport — St. Anthony Parish’s November book study will focus on Cultural Catholics by Maureen K. Day. The study takes place Mondays at 6 p.m. in the parish center.

Davenport — St. Ambrose University is hosting an intersectional disability justice lecture from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Rogalski Center ballroom. Featured speaker Lydia X.Z. Brown, an East Asian advocate and organizer, will explore the importance of disability justice in the fight against systemic injustice and the need to reimagine relationships and communities through radical inclusivity. The lecture is part of the Ambrosians Working for Social Justice (AWSJ) Lecture Series.

Davenport — QC Catholic Young Adults Mass at 6:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart Cathedral chapel. Snacks, drinks and fellowship to follow.

Nov. 8
Davenport — ARTrageous, described as a “one-of-a-kind family experience,” will make a tour stop at St. Ambrose University’s Galvin Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m. ARTrageous uses local talent within the community to help make each show a success. Davenport — A healing service with adoration, prayer teams and reconcilation will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral after 5:30 p.m. Mass.

Nov. 9
Davenport — St. Alphonsus Parish is hosting a craft sale in the gym from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Enjoy cinnamon rolls and coffee for $2 or a soup and sandwich lunch for $7.

North English — St. Joseph Parish is hosting a salad luncheon and silent auction at 11 a.m.

Nov. 9-10
Davenport — Christmas Carousel Bazaar will take place in the John F. Kennedy school gym Nov. 9 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Nov. 10 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Nov. 10
Camanche — Church of the Visitation Parish is hosting a holiday bazaar from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Lunch will be served.

West Point — A Rural Life Mass and family fun night will take place Nov. 10 at 1877 150th St. in rural West Point. Outdoor games and Euchre begin at 3 p.m. A Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at 6 p.m. A soup supper will be served at 6 p.m. (bring a side or dessert to share), followed by a bonfire and music.

Wheatland — Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat is “A Place at the Table: African Americans on the Path to Sainthood” with Thomas Mason IV from 1-5 p.m. Fee is $25. For more information or to register for this event go to www.theprairieretreat.org, email olpretreat@chmiowa.org or call 563-374-1092.

Nov. 10-11
Washington — Fred Shallabarger and Kara Kardell will lead a mission retreat at St. James Parish. The Nov. 10 event will begin with a soup supper at 4:30 p.m. followed by a retreat from 6-8 p.m. The Nov. 11 programming will take place from 6-8 p.m.

Nov. 14
Davenport — QC Catholic Young Adults adoration and confession at Our Lady of Victory Parish. Confessions from 5-7 p.m. and adoration from 7-8 p.m. Dinner at Pancheros at 6 p.m. (then group will join holy hour).

Nov. 17
Davenport — QC Catholic Young Adults Faith on Tap features Father Dane Dickinson at 4 p.m. at Jersey Grill Upper Room. The parochial vicar of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bettendorf will speak on the importance of the Advent season and how this season can help people grow in holiness.

Nov. 20
West Branch — St. Bernadette Parish is hosting a carry-out soup supper from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Homemade chicken noodle, vegetarian vegetable, and chili soup will be available by the pint or quart. Homemade desserts and small crafts and gifts will also be for sale. Cash or check only.

Nov. 21
Davenport — The diocesan Catholic Relief Services (CRS) chapter will meet in the third floor conference room of St. Vincent Center (Chancery) at 7 p.m. Bishop Dennis Walsh will speak during the meeting.

Nov. 23-24
Iowa City — St. Wenceslaus Parish is hosting a holiday bazaar and bake sale Nov. 23 from 8-11 a.m. and Nov. 24 from 9 a.m.-noon in the church hall.

Dec. 7
Buffalo — St. Peter Parish is hosting a cookie walk from 9-11 a.m. Purchase prepackaged, homemade Christmas cookies for $12/box. Santa will greet visitors; bring a camera.

Iowa City — The Fathers of St. Joseph, a group for husbands, fathers, grandfathers and mentors, meets the second Wednesday of the month from 6-7 a.m. at St. Mary Parish, and the fourth Saturday of the month (excluding November and December) from 6:30-8:20 a.m. (including 7 a.m. Mass) at St. Wenceslaus Parish. LeClaire — Our Lady of the River Parish Caregiver Support Group meets the first Monday of every month in the parish hall from 10:30-11:30 a.m. unless it falls on a holiday. It is open to all caregivers who are looking for emotional and spiritual support as well as resources available to them. The facilitator is Amie Hammes, caregiver support specialist at Milestones Area Agency on Aging. Loved ones are welcome to attend and meet separately as long as no physical care is required during the hour. Learn the Couple to Couple League method of Natural Family Planning (NFP), which gives couples the knowledge to track fertility signs as a way to achieve or avoid pregnancy. NFP is the only method of family planning approved by the Catholic Church and modern, symptom-based methods demonstrate an accuracy of about 99% in identifying times of fertility and infertility, according to the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology.
